Registration

What sorts of questions will I be asked when I register?

You will be asked some very basic questions, such as your name, age, and parish in which you live. This is to help us ensure that the Island Opinion database is truly representative of the island population. This information will be retained in our secure island database. It will not be disclosed to anyone else.

Can I de-register if I don't want to be part of Island Opinion anymore?

Yes, of course. Simply send an email to admin@islandopinion.com and you will instantly be removed from our database.

What if my household circumstances change?

If your household situation changes, e.g. if you move parish, then please let us know as soon as possible. Simply send an e-mail to admin@islandopinion.com or contact us.

Completing Surveys

How often will I complete a survey?

At least one new survey will be available for you to complete each month. You may complete as many surveys as you like, bearing in mind every time you do, you will be helping somebody or providing your opinion on a pressing issue. You will always be sent an email to remind you of a new survey.

What will a typical survey look like?

One thing is certain - there is no such thing as a typical survey! You may be asked your opinion on anything from current education law to your most recent shopping experience. But we are well aware that your time is precious, so we try to keep all surveys as brief as possible.

Confidentiality

Are my details secure?

You can rest assured that islandopinion.com complies fully with the Data Protection laws of Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. Your details will be held in our secure Island Opinion database and will not be disclosed to anyone else. Whilst the opinions and preferences that you express in the surveys will be shared with those organisations that have commissioned them, your personal details will never be divulged.

What's in it for me?

Why would I want to participate in Island Opinion?

By completing all the surveys, you will be entered into an annual prize draw. Five prizes per island can be won. These will range from meals out at popular island restaurants, shopping vouchers and inter-island travel vouchers.

Don't forget each time you complete a survey, £1 will be donated to your island's local Association of Charities.

Island Opinion is run by Island Analysis, an independent research organisation based in the Channel Islands. The primary function of the company is to provide both public and private organisations with research facilities covering a wide spectrum of activities.

One of the most important objectives is to identify different trends between islands and this is where Island Opinion comes into its own, enabling some very interesting comparisons to be made on a whole range of issues.

Focus Groups & E-feedback Groups

Sign up now to our focus group list.

As an additional service provided by Island Analysis, we are now running regular focus groups on a whole range of topics, which will take place at various times throughout the year. We are looking for local residents to take part in these focus groups, if you would like to put your name forward, you will be added to our list of possible attendees.

Focus groups may be a one and a half hour discussion at a specific location or you may be asked to provide feedback on an online based project (up to one and a half hours of online time). Please note that for each focus group we usually ask for no more than 10 individuals and hope to vary this on a project basis so please do not expect to be included every time.

As a gesture of thanks for your time and input, Island Analysis will offer various incentives based on the type or subject of the focus group. (Usual incentives are in the region of £30 or its equivalent value).
